Job overview

Norfolk House is a highly successful co-educational, independent day school for pupils aged two to eleven situated across two charming Victorian houses in Muswell Hill, London. The School prides itself on its strong sense of community and commitment to ensuring that each child feels supported and valued. Small class sizes support a personalised approach to learning which blends innovation and tradition in the classroom to create an environment where children truly engage and flourish academically. At the end of their time at Norfolk House, children achieve excellent results, allowing them to move onto a range of leading senior schools in London and beyond.

Norfolk House is proud to be the founding school of the Bellevue Education group and benefits from shared best-practice and resources, in addition to focused training programmes covering all aspects of education. The School also receives specialist support from Bellevue in the areas of educational training and professional development, finance, human resources and marketing, enabling the Head to focus on the most important aspects of their work: delivering an exceptional education which enables every child to reach their full potential. Bellevue is a schools group that empowers its leaders and equips them with the tools required to thrive in today’s demanding environment.

Bellevue is now seeking to appoint a new Head for Norfolk House to succeed Paul Jowett in September 2022. The next Head will lead the School with vision, inspiration and initiative which allows Norfolk House to build upon its considerable strengths and further enhance its provision and enviable reputation in the North London marketplace. Applications are welcomed from serving Head and ambitious senior leaders ready to make the step up to headship within a supportive and empowering governance structure. Candidates based internationally and interested in a return to the U.K. will be given serious consideration despite travel restrictions which may be in place.

Further information about the School can be found on the website at www.norfolkhouseschool.org and for further information about Bellevue please visit www.blvue.com

CV’s and covering letters should be submitted by the closing date of 9:00am GMT on Monday 8 November 2021.

Norfolk House School and Bellevue Education are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Norfolk House School is a leading London Preparatory School for boys and girls aged 4 -11.
The school takes great pride in its happy and warm environment, where each and every pupil is valued and supported. Pupils at Norfolk House are nurtured and guided through school life; we aim to stimulate and inspire our children and to develop their interests.
We ensure our curriculum is interesting and stimulating as well as broad and balanced. We want our pupils to be excited about lessons and fully engaged in all of school life. We strive to offer personalisation to our learning programmes; our pupils are involved in their own learning and our older children conference regularly with their teachers to set realistic learning targets. Self and peer evaluation of work are both well embedded in our curriculum and our pupils are always aware of what they need to do to achieve next steps, and are well supported in this.
