Job overview
Due to the forthcoming retirement of the Headteacher, the Management Committee of Rivers ESC are seeking to appoint an inspirational, innovative and ambitious leader, who will bring energy, enthusiasm and a clear vision to the future development of the ESC. We are looking to appoint someone with the drive and commitment to lead the school through the next chapter in its development and its journey to become an outstanding provider. Strong leadership skills are essential along with the ability to work in partnership with parents/carers, pupils, staff, Management Committee and other stakeholders. Rivers Education Support Centre provides educational programmes to support pupils who are at serious risk of permanent exclusion, or who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school.
The Centre’s vision is to inspire and enable pupils to:
- Become confident, independent and successful young people
- Excel in Learning
- Engage positively with the community
- Be ambitious for their futures
At KS3 the focus of Centre work is to re-engage the pupils with their learning and reintegrate them into a mainstream school setting. The outreach team works closely with all primary and secondary schools in supporting pupils who are experiencing emotional, social, behaviour challenges that are impacting on their school success. At KS4 pupils are provided with an alternative provision, where it is acknowledged that a mainstream setting is not meeting their needs. Pupils are offered a wide variety of opportunities for accreditation, including GCSE courses, OCR, City and Guilds, BTEC. Rivers success is built upon strong partnerships with schools and other services and most importantly, with young people and their parents and carers. Rivers ESC is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We welcome visits to both our KS3 and KS4 centres from potential applicants, if you would like to arrange to visit please contact Heather Dunne, PA to Headteacher on 01992 534 841 or
