Job overview

Following the retirement of our dedicated and successful Headteacher, the Governing Body, staff and children are seeking to appoint a Headteacher with the vision, leadership and energy to build on our successes and achievements, and further develop our church school.

The school has just been rated ‘Outstanding’ in our SIAMS inspection (September 2016) and received positive and encouraging oral feedback in our very recent Ofsted inspection (October 2016 – report not yet received or published at the time of writing). With these two inspections under our belt, this is surely the perfect time to take on the exciting challenge of being the dynamic Head of Park Street. Our vision is to continue improving the offering for each child at our school, so that every child progresses and achieves their full potential both academically but also pastorally as citizens who appreciate and live out the distinctive Christian values at the heart of our church school. Park Street C of E VA Primary School is a one form entry school with a nursery, set in the village of Park Street just to the South of St Albans. The school enjoys close links with Holy Trinity, Frogmore and other local churches and this position will naturally appeal to those who will enjoy and value these close links.

For further details, please download the Application Pack; details are on the school website: www.parkstreetprimary.org.uk.

You are welcome to arrange a school visit (please contact the Office Manager, Carol Connon on 01727 872158 or admin@parkstreet.herts.sch.uk) or have an informal conversation about the role with the Chair of Governors, Oliver Bullock, on 01582084033 ext.131, or via e-mail: o.bullock@beechwoodpark.herts.sch.uk).

Completed application forms and letters of application are returnable to Oliver Bullock (Chair of Governors of Park Street), c/o Beechwood Park School, Markyate, St Albans, AL3 8AW, or may be uploaded through www.teachinherts.com.

Closing date: 5.00pm, Wednesday 16th November 2016.
Interview date: Wednesday 7th December.

The post is subject to satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Park Street CofE Primary School and Nursery is a Voluntary Aided Primary School and Nursery located on the south side of St Albans set in attractive grounds in a very pleasant residential area. Park Street is a popular school with well behaved pupils who are keen to learn.

Thank you for showing an interest in Park Street School – a voluntary aided primary school.

There has been a Church of England School in the village of Frogmore and Park Street since 1831. The present school building dates from 1900 and extensive alterations have been carried out to the building since this date.

Two new large classrooms for our Infant children were opened in 2005. We have a spacious Foundation Stage Unit for Nursery and Reception, and four Junior classrooms.

Outside there is an extensive playing field, bordered by the Moor Mill Conservation Area, with climbing equipment and playgrounds for play and physical education.

There is a relaxed atmosphere where everybody is regarded as equally important and where it is recognised that we all have a role to play in maintaining the high standards, both academic and social, for which we have become known.

Underlying everything done in the school is the aim to provide a caring and supportive environment, through Christian teaching and example, in which children of all abilities and aptitudes can work and play hard, reach their full potential academically, grow in independence and establish relationships which are secure, considerate, open and warm.

Visitors of Park Street C of E Primary School frequently comment on the calm, well-behaved atmosphere throughout the school. We believe that children feel happy and secure in this environment, and this in turn creates the best possible attitudes to learning.

We have strong links with Holy Trinity Church, Frogmore with the Vicar taking weekly assemblies and two services a year in the Church.

The working relationship with parents is warm and highly valued whilst the flourishing Park Street School Association raises funds and widens the involvement of families. Governors work hard to fulfil their role and contribute to the strategic direction and development of the school.
