Job overview

We are looking to appoint an inspirational leader who is ready to embark on a fresh new challenge… Easily accessible with great transport links, Stevenage is perfectly located for job seekers from parts of, Herts, Beds, Cambs, and Suffolk.

Woolenwick Junior School is a community school for 7 to 11 year olds with 234 children on roll. The “Blast” club provides before and after school care to pupils at the school, which is a valued service by our parents. When last inspected in March 2014 the school was judged “good” by Ofsted.

Woolenwick Junior School is a 2 form entry school set in delightful grounds near Stevenage Old Town. We have hardworking children, a tremendous teaching team and a commitment to learning for everyone. We are committed to promoting positve learning & behaviour. The classes are arranged around the central dining room & library. Outside the school we have a large playing field, 2 playgrounds and a range of woodland hedgerow and wetlands for environmental studies. We believe in a rich environment that reflects, rewards & stimulates learning.

Working collaboratively to meet the needs of all our children...

We have a good reputation for inclusion within the community, something we are absolutely committed to. We have a higher than average pupil premium. We are very proud to be a flagship SEND school and we are privileged to have a dedicated family worker, INCO and SENCO to support our families and children, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds. Our School’s greatest strength is its nurturing nature where children are happy, safe and secure in their learning. We also currently have the contract to be the lead agency for the Stevenage North group of Children’s Centres, extending the Woolenwick community along with our out of school provision Blast club.

A new chapter in our schools journey...

Our current Headteacher is moving abroad at the end of the autumn term 2017 and we are looking for an outward looking, truly outstanding individual with vision, drive, passion and a caring nature, to bring fresh ideas and develop our school, children and staff. The successful candidate will lead with strength and confidence and be able to negotiate and influence the outcomes that the school will face on its journey to achieve continuous improvement and outstanding results.

In return we can offer you:

  • A strong, skilled, collaborative and highly motivated team
  • A strong, supportive and skilled governing body
  • Wonderfully behaved children who love to learn
  • Commitment to support your development

We welcome the opportunity to show you our wonderful school, meet our great children and amazing team. Please call Justine Terry, Head's PA, on 01438 216565 to arrange a suitable time to visit.
