Job overview

Birchwood is a Pupil Referral Unit and placement facility for young people in their last two years of statutory education. It provides an alternative to mainstream schooling, approaching learning through projects, work placements and specially created flexible programmes.

The curriculum is delivered to approximately 20 students in partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust across two centres, Folkestone and New Romney.

The Management Committee, comprising the Headteachers of the six secondary schools and one special school in the district, wish to appoint a Headteacher who will provide vision, and who will work strategically with partners and stakeholders to develop outstanding provision. This in turn will transform educational and future life opportunities of all pupils for whom it is responsible.

In line with Safer recruitment all appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory employment references and medical clearance including the ability to participate in Physical Interventions.
