Job overview

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is seeking an experienced senior leader to take on the opportunity and challenge to become their new Headteacher.

We believe that St John Fisher Academy is a sleeping giant. It was without doubt the destination of choice for parents, both Catholic and non-Catholic, only a few years ago. I truly believe that this is a career-defining role for the right person. Proactive support from the Trust Board, Trust, Governors and Diocese is a given, but there is also wide community support for the school and a real commitment to see it flourish again as an excellent school for all.

If you are ready to support Catholic education in the Dewsbury area, by taking on the challenge of rebuilding this great school, please get in touch with our retained consultant Ross Laird at Academicis either by phone on 07901 585959, or via email at rlaird@academicis.co.uk, for a confidential conversation and to arrange a visit to the school.

All applications are to be sent to rlaird@academicis.co.uk by 1pm on Monday 16th January.

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is committed to the protection of our children and to best practice in the recruitment of staff.

Applicants should note that, in accordance with KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE IN EDUCATION, it is the applicant’s responsibility to have made any necessary registrations relevant at the time of making this application which is required for people working or volunteering with children.  Accordingly, any offer of employment made will be conditional upon the results of checks from the Disclosure & Barring Service (“the DBS”) and Employer Access Online (regarding teacher prohibition/disqualification from working with children and young people).  Furthermore, since 1st September 2022 Keeping Children Safe in Education requires us to conduct online searches.

About St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy

Welcome!

As Headteacher, I am proud and honoured to welcome you to St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, part of the Blessed Peter Snow Academy Trust.

As a Catholic secondary academy, we offer a unique education which places Christ at the centre of everything we do.

It is our mission as a Catholic academy to bear witness by putting Faith into action. Our CARE values – Commitment, Aspiration, Respect and Excellence form part of daily school life.

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is a place where all are valued for who they are and where they see themselves going. In partnership with our families, we will guide our young people on a journey that is both spiritual and academic. Together we will shape them into young adults who are true to themselves and who acknowledge their individual worth as being made in the image and likeness of God.

“I have come that they may have life and have it to the full” John 10:10

This is an exciting time to be a part of our community as we are on a rapid journey of improvement and are introducing a range of exciting new opportunities for our students.

We very much look forward to what the future holds for our Academy and most importantly, our students.

Mr Mackey, Headteacher
