About Archbishop Temple Church of England High School

Archbishop Temple Church of England High School is a high achieving, non-selective school. We are located in Preston, Lancashire, and have around 780 pupils aged 11-16 on roll. Our curriculum centres on traditional academic subjects including PE, technology subjects and creative arts subjects which we value.  We expect good behaviour and hard work from our pupils, and although we are unashamedly academic, we are here for all our pupils - we are an inclusive and welcoming school.  Children with special needs do conspicuously well with us, and are our greatest success stories.

We are very proud of the many opportunities we offer to our young people.  Our sports offer is superb and our music provision is amazing.

We are a Church of England school.  We acknowledge God through regular acts of worship, we employ a full time Chaplain who is part of the pastoral support we offer our children and staff.  Our faith is worked out in the way we treat people.  We deliberately invest very heavily in having a large and very experienced pastoral team.  Our motto of “faith, nurture, service” has nurturing young people at its heart.  Making sure children are cared for, safe and happy is critically important to us.  We have very few exclusions from school, and give our children as many chances as they need, because we are a place of faith!  One of the things we like about ourselves is that we are a relatively small secondary school.  That means that every child will be taught by every teacher during their time with us – no-one is anonymous, everyone knows everyone’s name.

All of this combines to make us a place of achievement.  Every year around 85% of our children leave us with five or more good GCSEs, including English and Maths.  We are a national teaching school.
