Job overview

Following the retirement of the existing Headteacher we are seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic, innovative and inclusive individual to lead our school through the next stage of its development. We are looking for an inspirational leader with an absolute commitment to leading by example, and who enjoys getting the best out of young people.

Walton le Dale is a small but growing 11-16 maintained school centred on strong positive relationships. The school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in the summer of 2014.

As a school with a record for continuous improvement you will be the lead professional amongst a committed team of staff who put young people first. You will be passionate about developing the whole child and about learning in its widest sense.

You will be a reflective and versatile practitioner with a proven track record of:

  • holding a child- centered ethos;
  • raising standards successfully through high quality leadership;
  • implementing and sustaining change based on a personal vision for education and an understanding of the national landscape for education;
  • highly effective communication with students, staff and parents;
  • inspiring students and staff to achieve their best.

In return we can offer you:

  • A dedicated, motivated and talented staff;
  • A school where relationships are positive and strong;
  • A school with outstanding pastoral care;
  • An enthusiastic and committed Governing Body.

This is a fantastic time to join Walton le Dale, with a rising school roll and a strong team of staff. If you feel you share our ethos we would love to receive an application from you.

An application pack can be downloaded from this site. Applicants may also wish to browse our website to find out more. You may also like to visit the school for a tour on Monday 30 January and Tuesday 31 January from 3-15 – 5.00pm.

Completed application forms should be sent to Sandra Hinchliffe, School Manager, Walton le Dale Arts College, Brindle Road, Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 6RN or apply on line to sandra.hinchliffe@waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk  by mid-day on Thursday 9 February.

Interviews will be held on Thursday and Friday 2/3 March 2017.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Walton-le-Dale is a relatively small school which gives us a distinctive atmosphere. Many visitors comment on the warmth and friendliness of the school.  It is a school where the students and staff know each other well (helped by a vertical pastoral system in Y8-Y11).  Our smaller size allows us to see each child as an individual and to cater for them individually. We are proud to be one of only a few secondary schools in Lancashire with the Inclusion Mark, achieved in 2008 and renewed several times since. We currently have Flagship status for the Inclusion Mark and this reflects the importance of this to our ethos.
