Job overview

Ref: SCH01968

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious school leader to be our new headteacher from January 2019. The school is currently subject to an academy order. A multi-academy trust has been identified as a sponsor and the school is proceeding towards conversion in 2018-19.

Wennington Hall is a long established day and residential special school with a strong record of supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.  In recent times, our school has seen a significant increase in the proportion of pupils with additional mental health needs and autistic spectrum disorders.

We are located in a rural location, on a very attractive and spacious site. We have a mix of historic and modern buildings, which provide extensive facilities to support a wide-ranging curriculum, leisure and recreational activities. The school has been undergoing a period of transition and we are proud of the changes we have made, although we continue to look to make further improvements. We take pride in providing a lively and caring environment, where everyone is enthusiastic about learning. Staff are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of pupils and are committed to developing their ability to grow into resourceful young adults.

We are looking for a leader with the following qualities:

- vision and passion to lead the school's future development

- strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate

- knowledge and understanding of the needs of our pupils

Proposed interview date: Wednesday 11 July, with a formal pre-interview visit to the school on Tuesday 10 July.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Act 1975. If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service for a 'disclosure'.
