Job overview
Up to £87,973 (more maybe available for an outstanding candidate)
Brent Knoll School is a specialist school for children with complex social, communication and interaction difficulties; in particular autism. Currently we have 149 pupils on roll across primary and secondary, with over half eligible for Pupil Premium. Our Ofsted in July 2015 rated us as “Good” with outstanding features for Behaviour and Early Years Provision.
For the last four years we have been part of a Cooperative Trust of two special schools along with several strategic partners. With growing demand for our services, we have relocated to a brand new purpose built building in the Forest Hill/Sydenham area of Lewisham. This major £7.5million investment is at the heart of our vision of creating a learning environment for our young people that inspires a genuine love of learning, a sense of worth, and improves their outcomes and lifelong opportunities.
We are now looking for a Headteacher to build on the good work that has already been done, and to lead and shape our future provision in light of the significant changes in the education sector. Our aim is that we are a provider of the highest quality, which listens to parents, carers, students and key stakeholders.
You will have a successful track record of senior leadership in a comparable context, with demonstrable experience of effective working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs. You may currently be a Head or Deputy in a special school. Alternatively you may be working in a mainstream or advisory environment with expertise that will enable you to establish yourself as a credible leader in a special school setting.
You will feel equally comfortable being involved in our day-to-day work as you are providing strategic leadership. You will have the interpersonal skills to listen and engage with pupils, parents / carers and have an outward looking perspective, enabling you to establish effective working relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders. Your ability to communicate a vision that inspires and elicits the commitment of staff, students and the community as a whole, will set you apart.
