Job overview

Due to the retirement of the current postholder, the Governors of Princes Primary are looking to recruit a full time Headteacher to start in September 2018. Applications are invited from exceptional, motivated and inspirational individuals with a proven track record of successful school leadership in the field of special educational needs.  We are looking to recruit an experienced school leader to continue to take the school forward on its journey. Princes has a current Ofsted rating of “Outstanding" (December 2012) and we have worked tirelessly to continue to develop provision for our pupils and support for our families.

Princes is a Primary School for pupils with severe learning difficulties. Over 50% of pupils have an additional diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition and we have had accreditation with the National Autistic Society since 2010. The school is situated in the centre of Liverpool and children are admitted from across the city. There is a wide mix of socio economic and ethnic backgrounds.

In February 2015, Princes was designated a Teaching School and is also currently a National Support School. We are one of the four special Teaching Schools which form the Merseyside SEN Teaching School Alliance (MSTSA). This is a collaboration of four special schools located in Liverpool and Sefton. Princes works closely with Millstead, Redbridge and Rowan Park Schools and together we form one of the biggest SEN alliances in the country.

Under the guidance of our current Headteacher the school has made significant progress and we as a governing body are proud of the excellent quality of teaching and pupil progress within the school.

We are looking forward to welcoming someone with the qualities and drive to take the school forward as we start a new chapter in the development and progression of our school. Our new Head will lead a big staff team of hard working and highly committed staff in supporting children who make us proud to be involved in their school.

Princes provides:-

  • A fun learning environment for children with a real family atmosphere
  • A great working environment for staff where everyone is valued and treated with respect.
  • Hard working dedicated and committed staff who strive to gain the best for all of our pupils.
  • A fully integrated services model working with Physio and Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and a range of Health Professionals.
  • Supportive parents / carers who will work in partnership with you to achieve the best for their children
  • Amazing pupils who love coming to school and are encouraged to learn the skills that they will need for life outside of school.
  • An enthusiastic and supportive governing body that put the interests of the children first and are committed to the continual improvement of the school.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children and young people. As a Headteacher we will expect you to be able to have a positive working relationship with the governing body and to be able to understand its role in support and challenge. We want a leader that can work with our current senior staff teams and build on the good practices we have whilst keeping the school moving forward.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for the right person. If you have the skills and passion to meet the challenges it will be a great opportunity to develop your career and make a real difference to our children, staff, parents and wider community.
