Charles Darwin School is a popular, friendly, inclusive secondary school set in the heart of Biggin Hill on the outskirts of the London Borough of Bromley.

Due to the retirement of the current Headteacher, the Trust Board and the Governing Body are looking to appoint a Headteacher to take up post from January 2022.

We are looking for a candidate who will build on our distinct culture and ethos, a culture and ethos that has engendered high levels of student commitment, good standards of behaviour, staff dedication, and the local community's approval.

Charles Darwin became a single academy in 2011, and in 2013 became a multi academy Trust taking on the sponsorship of Biggin Hill Primary School. Both schools that form the Trust are strong vibrant schools that are successful.

This is an exciting time to lead our school. The successful candidate will have the ambition, determination and expertise to ensure that Charles Darwin School continues to build on achievements made over recent years.

Above all, we wish to appoint as Headteacher, a leader with:

  • A clear commitment to nurturing and promoting the school's distinctive ethos
  • A passion for providing the best possible holistic education for all students
  • Outstanding strategic ability to anticipate and lead change to ensure Charles Darwin continues to grow and develop
  • A commitment to maximising achievement through excellence in teaching and learning
  • A shared commitment to continuing professional development for all staff
  • An excellent, proven track record as a classroom teacher and school leader

You will need to demonstrate that you have the skills and track record to maintain the excellent relationships that exist with both staff and students, whilst setting challenging goals that motivate and foster a desire to advance across all aspects of the school

In return you will have the opportunity to build on the solid foundations and be part of shaping the future success of Charles Darwin School and Charles Darwin Academy Trust.

We welcome applications from current Headteachers and experienced Deputy Headteachers.
