The Link Secondary School provides education predominantly for pupils with speech, language and communication needs. It is a small and friendly school with the capacity for 54 pupils including a sixth form. The school is a non-maintained special school and is part of The Link Day School Ltd which also provides an ‘Outstanding’ primary school.

We are seeking a Headteacher who has a successful track record of strategic leadership and school improvement in secondary schools and has a firm understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN, SLCN and ASD.

Applications are welcomed from existing Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers with a successful track record of strategic leadership and school improvement in secondary schools.

We are looking for a Headteacher who has:

  • Demonstrated a passion for teaching and learning, with experience and/or a thorough understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN, SLCN and ASD.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, able to inspire, challenge and empower others and with the energy and ability to drive the school forward.
  • The achievements, progress and well-being of pupils as their top priority.
  • The ability to promote a positive and supportive ethos for pupils and staff where all are valued, encouraged and challenged to achieve the best they can.
  • A strong sense of the importance of the school community and the ability to communicate and manage relationships effectively with both staff and parents.
  • A collaborative style of leadership, where middle-leaders are nurtured and encouraged to grow professionally through constructive feedback and mentoring.
