Job overview

Acacias Community Primary School is a school committed to supporting children to achieve their best regardless of their starting point. The school is in a culturally diverse area and celebrates the diversity of the school community. We are proud to be regarded as a model of inclusion for children with Special Educational Needs.

The current Headteacher will be retiring this year, and the Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dedicated and inspirational new Headteacher with a commitment to inclusion and continuous school improvement, to take up the post in April 2022.

We are seeking

• A new Headteacher who will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting the ethos of the school, who will be approachable and visible around the school to children, staff, parents and carers.

• An individual who will motivate, inspire and develop staff whilst also ensuring well-being is valued and promoted as a core value.

• A leader whose motivation is children and helping them achieve to the best of their abilities and who understands individual children’s needs and the wide range of experiences and factors that can impact on their well-being and achievement.

Governors and staff are highly motivated to support a new Headteacher coming into this post, and are committed to working with the new Headteacher to ensure that Acacias remains an excellent school that supports, and is supported by, the whole school community.

Our catchment includes children from many different cultural backgrounds and 62% of our children have English as an additional language. 25% of children receive Free School Meals (this percentage has increased significantly over the pandemic). 12% of children have SEN, including 17 children with Education Health and Care Plans.

We ensure that the children receive a broad, balanced curriculum that is enriched by visits and visitors. We moved into a brand new purpose built building in 2012 and have large grounds, providing a green oasis in the local area.

Visits to the school are encouraged and can be arranged for a Tuesday or a Wednesday afternoon and should be booked via the school office (0161 224 1598 or admin@acacias.manchester.sch.uk). Previous applicants need not apply.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check
