Job overview

Due to our existing Head Teacher leaving to take up a new challenge as Executive Director of Education in a multi-academy trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen at King David Primary School. We are looking for a strong leader with a proven track record of school improvement who can continue to offer strong leadership to our ‘Outstanding’ school as we enter the next phase of our journey.

King David Primary school is a large (NOR: 434) highly successful, modern Jewish primary school situated in North Manchester. We welcome applicants from a wide and diverse field and our number one aim in this appointment is to find the right person to lead our school, therefore, we do not require our Headteacher to be of the Jewish faith.

We teach the primary national curriculum alongside an integrated approach to our Jewish Studies curriculum, which is designed to complement and enhance core subjects. Jewish Studies is led by our Leader of Learning for Jewish Studies who is a member of the School Leadership Team.

King David is a very happy, vibrant school that has been on an incredible journey during the last six years, including the opening of a brand new building, conversion to academy status and culminating in our recent ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report of which we are extremely proud (https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/139497).

Our children are our greatest asset and we urge potential candidates to visit us to experience our warm, caring and happy atmosphere.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a clear vision and strong commitment to school improvement and excellence;
  • Has high expectations, focusing on raising achievement and standards across the whole school;
  • Has a proven track record of effective leadership and management;
  • Has proven ability and skills to lead, manage and inspire pupils, staff and Governors;
  • Works in partnership with pupils, staff, parents, Governors and the community;
  • Will seek to maintain and build on existing strengths and good practice;
  • Will promote inclusion and diversity;
  • Will continue to develop an innovative, creative approach to learning and teaching;
  • Is an excellent communicator who will be an effective advocate for the school in the wider community;

We offer:

  • Children who are happy, confident, motivated and enjoy learning;
  • A strong ethos and vision;
  • A school that actively promotes the welfare, well- being and safeguarding of all children;
  • A supportive and committed governing body;
  • Friendly, creative and dedicated staff;
  • Strong links with the local community;
  • Working partnerships with local schools;

Visits to the school are strongly recommended. Please telephone the school if you wish to arrange a visit.

Closing Date: 4th November 2016.
Job start: May 2nd 2017 or earlier if possible
