Job overview

NOR: 110

The Governing Body wishes to appoint a highly driven, enthusiastic and inspirational Headteacher to lead and further develop our popular village school near Cambridge and Newmarket.

We are extremely proud of our school and the Christian ethos that lies at the heart of our 11 core values: Respect, Aspiration, Courage, Forgiveness, Determination, Patience, Nurture, Teamwork, Confidence, Love and Belief. The wellbeing of our children and staff is paramount, all of whom are encouraged to care for one another in a safe and happy environment. Our children strive to become aspirational, confident members of our community through independent learning and an acceptance and understanding of the concept of individual responsibility.

Our school was rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in November 2013, including ‘Outstanding’ for the ‘Behaviour and Safety of Pupils’. In this regard, Ofsted noted that, ‘Pupils’ behaviour is outstanding, both inside and outside the classroom. Pupils have extremely positive attitudes to their learning and are supported by excellent provision for their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development’. Burrough Green is indeed a special and convivial place to work.

This is an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to continue the work of raising the standards of achievement for all pupils at Burrough Green in a challenging yet caring environment on its journey from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’. The successful candidate will have effective leadership skills and the necessary vision and motivation to build on the successes of the current Headteacher, including:

  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, with a focus on the ability to relate to and address the needs of the various school groups: pupils, parents, staff, contractors, governors, the Diocese and general community engagement.
  • A commitment to nurturing and maintaining the outstanding levels of behaviour and attitudes to learning and to continuing to develop the school’s good classroom practice and teaching.

  • The ability to effectively use school/regulatory data as a means of highlighting any potential changes that may be required to the curriculum and staffing structures of the school and creating transparency around such usage.

  • A desire to maintain and strengthen the distinctive Christian nature of the school.

In turn we can offer:

  • An excellent staff team who work well together and are open to new ideas.
  • Highly experienced and committed, well qualified governors.
  • Positive and supportive relationships with our parents in the form of an active PTA.
  • Commitment to, and full support for, your professional and personal development.
  • A modern, well-provisioned and attractive environment to work in.

We would be delighted if you were to visit the school to experience first-hand this friendly, caring learning environment. To arrange a visit please contact Grace Rowley at Academicis on:
