Headteacher

We are looking for an exceptional practitioner and leader to be Headteacher of Mary Hare Primary School. The successful candidate is likely to be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf with a proven track-record in supporting the language development of deaf children as well as ensuring that they reach their academic potential. Candidates who are not qualified Teachers of the Deaf might be considered if they have comparable experience and skills. However, a willingness to undertake the training would be essential.

Mary Hare Primary currently has around 30 pupils. It has a wonderful, family atmosphere and a strong staff team. The successful candidate will build on current success and will be able to win the trust of families who are considering placement or who already have a child at the school.

The Headteacher has full autonomy, but works closely with the overall Principal, whose role covers both schools. 

Planning permission is about to be submitted for a new, state of the art primary school on the same campus as the secondary school and it is hoped that the successful applicant would share this vision and be committed to the preparation for the move.

Mary Hare is a non-maintained special school for deaf children from the ages of 5 to 19. The school is committed to learning through speaking and listening. The Primary School has day pupils and weekly boarders. The Headteacher will work closely with the Care Leadership Team but is not required to work in the boarding provision.
