Job overview

This is an excellent opportunity to drive and continue the development of our Outstanding school.

Greatwood is a great school! The building itself is unique with fantastic facilities, a modern feel and extensive grounds; providing a happy place to learn. We are a proud school filled with a strong community spirit. Learning is at the heart of everything we do. We are well regarded and have exceptionally high expectations and standards which we work hard to maintain.

An enhanced mainstream school for Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), we offer a highly inclusive learning environment in which all children achieve well. We also use this expertise to deliver support to many other schools in the area.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and experienced professional with a remit to lead the school in its next phase of development and continue to raise standards. Able to effectively manage workload, provide professional leadership and direct the school’s strategic planning, you must share our pride and all round high expectations.

To succeed, you must be a proven leader and manager with the drive and determination to build on our success. A strong communicator, you must also be able to grow and develop partnerships and effectively motivate, inspire and develop staff.

In return we can offer you a supportive governing body, a committed school community, a strong and experienced team of staff and continued professional development.

Greatwood is set in the picturesque market town of Skipton, gateway to the Dales and voted “Happiest Place to Live in the UK 2017”. Skipton is a delightful place offering the best of all worlds; olde-worlde charm and the hustle and bustle of a lively market town which has evolved naturally over the centuries and consequently retained its many historic features.

Boasting a good network of transport links, Skipton is easily accessible by road from all directions. There are regular local and national bus services as well as rail connections to Leeds, Bradford, Morecambe and Carlisle.

Visits to the school are welcome. We have appointments available from 1:30pm on Wednesday 14th and 21st March, we may be able to offer some flexibility if these times are not convenient. Please call Jo or Diane, (school administrators) on 01756 793 609 to make an appointment or email: admin@greatwood.n-yorks.sch.uk Such a visit is not part of the selection process and whether or not applicants have visited will not influence the final outcome.
