Job overview

Are you an ambitious, visionary leader who can uphold our ‘outstanding’ status and provide exceptional professional leadership, ensuring high quality education for all pupils?

We are looking for an astute senior leader to influence, motivate and build on our school's vision, ethos and values and further inspire our pupils and staff.

About Us

Crayke Church of England VC Primary School is a happy, lively and highly successful school situated 12 miles to the north of the beautiful and historic City of York.  Based in the attractive village of Crayke with 100 pupils on roll, we serve children from a number of local communities.

Rated outstanding by Ofsted and SIAMS, we are at the heart of our community, with a clear vision for the future.  An exceptional reputation and our Christian foundation are the reasons why we are so open to a fully inclusive model of education, enabling all children to fulfil their full potential whatever their starting points.  Our core values are Respect, Friendship, Forgiveness and Determination and these are lived out in the daily work of the school.

About the role

We are looking for a strong leader with a clear picture of outstanding practice, and a track record which demonstrates the potential to balance the Headteacher and teaching responsibilities within the role.  You will be committed to the personal moral and social development of our pupils, as well as to the very highest academic standards, within the context of our Christian ethos and values.

The Headteacher role will provide strategic leadership and direction to our school, while building upon the excellent practice and high standards already found in the school.  This will mean a strong focus on outstanding teaching and learning, the development of every pupil ensuring their best possible progress, working closely with parents and carers and the community, and continuously seeking ways to make further improvements.

About you

To succeed, you must be a strong communicator and have the ability to forge and promote positive relationships with all staff, pupils, parents and carers. This will be key to your success.  You will need a real desire to achieve and the presence, ambition and expertise to deliver strong, clear leadership and vision.

Financially astute, you will also build partnerships, while delivering an outstanding educational provision that is sustainable for the long term.  In addition, you will promote Christian ethos and high expectations, while engaging positively and respectfully with our parent/carer/family community, ensuring we meet the needs of our pupils whilst promoting excellence.

You will lead highly committed, experienced and loyal staff and have strong relationships with the Governors, Diocese, Local Authority, the wider education community and the North Star Alliance.

In return, we can offer you strong support, the opportunity to help shape the future of our school and continued professional development.
