Job overview

Small school, big ambitions

This is an excellent opportunity for a truly creative and forward thinking professional to make a mark at a school with outstanding potential. Given that Alternative Provision needs to deliver a bigger and broader range of services, while strengthening collaborations and securing new funding streams, your role will be key to ensuring we deliver and commission provision that meets the needs of all our stakeholders.

A warm and friendly school, we are committed to delivering a safe and supportive environment where all pupils learn, progress and have aspirations for the future. As well as benefitting from significant, on-going local authority support, we also have excellent facilities, and committed, student centred staff recognised for their outstanding teaching and learning practice.

We are looking for a leader with vision, able to motivate pupils, stakeholders and staff. This will include directing the school’s strategic planning, leading the development of the curriculum and delivering an outstanding provision which meets the needs of the young people in our unit as well as those we serve in the wider and extended education community.

To apply, you will need a thorough knowledge of national education strategy and the wider context for Alternative Provision, and have the creativity to identify and maximise the potential of the service onsite, across the region and beyond. We believe that the opportunities are boundless, and aspire to be a centre of excellence that delivers innovative alternative provision services across the region and beyond to meet a demand that it increasing.

The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate the ability to network, develop partnerships and collaborations and creatively formulate provision in an environment of constant change.

In return, we will offer you support, the opportunity to develop a truly unique and dynamic provision and access to continued professional development.

Skipton is a picturesque market town, serving a large surrounding rural area including the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the north. Skipton is an appealing place to live, offering excellent primary and secondary schools and a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities. Its attraction has been recognised nationally, voted Best High Street in 2009 by the Academy of Urbanism and in 2014, the Best Place to Live in Britain by the Sunday Times.

Geographically, it is ideally situated with easy access not only to areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Lake District, the Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors but also larger towns such as Harrogate, York, Leeds, Bradford and Manchester.

Rail and road links are excellent; Leeds Bradford Airport is only forty minutes away, Manchester Airport an hour.

If you have aspiration we look forward to receiving your application.
