Job overview

We believe, so together we achieve.

At Sherburn Hungate School, we create a caring and positive atmosphere for learning and as a result our children want to learn and are happy, confident and enthusiastic. Currently rated as Good, we have expectations for all pupils. We strongly feel that every child matters - from the most able in class to those who find learning a challenge in school; whatever their need.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and experienced professional with a remit to further shape our improvement plan while continuing to raise standards.

A strong communicator and team builder, you must be able to motivate inspire and influence pupils, staff and stakeholders. As well as directing the school’s strategic planning, leading the development of the curriculum and delivering an outstanding provision which meets the needs of all our young people, you will explore collaborative options and opportunities through Teaching Schools Alliance.

To succeed, you must be a proven leader with the ability to maximise pupil achievement. Able to set and achieve challenging goals, you must also have a clear vision for the future of the school.

A modern day practitioner, you will assume responsibility for all aspects of school life, including building on links with other Primary and Secondary schools, developing partnerships and ensuring that positive relations with families are maintained. As significant housing development is planned in the catchment area, you will also need to explore opportunities for expansion either to a 1.5 or 2 form entry.

We very much welcome school visits and, if you’d like the opportunity to come along, please call Julie Carter on 01977 682434, or email: admin@sherburnhungate.n-yorks.sch.uk.
