Job overview

Faith in ourselves, hope for the future and love for each other

Kirk Fenton CE Primary School is located in the village of Church Fenton, midway between Leeds and York. The village has excellent communication links, including its own railway station, making it an ideal commuter location. Currently, there are several new housing developments in the immediate locality, ensuring that the school will grow in the future. A friendly school, we have 195 children on roll and are currently rated as Good by Ofsted (2015) and SIAMS (2014).

Based in the heart of the community, we have strong church and community links. Our curriculum is broad and is underpinned by a strong Christian ethos and a focus on outdoor learning. We are a caring community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all. The friends of Kirk Fenton are very active and the governing body is supportive.

This position is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a well-motivated, enthusiastic team and to help develop the vision for our school including investigating options for academy/federation status. To support our development, we are looking for a candidate with proven leadership skills and the ability to forge and maintain external relationships while nurturing and developing our team, effectively driving the school through a period of change and potential expansion.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader with the vision to further shape our future and move our school onto the next stage of its development. You will have high expectations of children's achievement and you will be expected to set ambitious goals, raise standards and promote our vision and Christian values in a way that is relevant and inspiring. A proven leader, you must have good strategic vision, the ability to build and develop teams, effectively manage a budget, and a good understanding of what underpins the distinctively Christian character of a church school.

If you feel you have these special qualities, we would be delighted to hear from you. To arrange a visit to the school please contact the school on 01937 557228 or email: admin@kirkfenton.n-yorks.sch.uk to make an appointment.
