Job overview

The Academy of Central Bedfordshire

We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead our welcoming, supportive and dedicated staff teams across both Academy sites. We regard ourselves as having a vocation to work with our students and help them to develop fulfilling lives. If you want to make a significant difference to the young people in your care, we would love to hear from you.

The Academy of Central Bedfordshire is one of the most successful Alternative Provision academies in the country. It caters for up to 140 students between the ages of 11 and 16 and is located over two sites in Houghton Regis and Stotfold. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced leader who is committed to enabling the young people in our care to achieve academically and socially.

The salary will be dependent on experience with a six point range between L22 and L30

You will have experience at senior team level of working with young people with additional needs, ideally in a trauma informed, attachment aware manner, although all relevant skills and experience will be considered. We offer a full training programme for all staff throughout the year to help develop their skills and knowledge.

We particularly value the well-being of every member of the school community and regard this as fundamental to the success of our school.

We are an alternative provision free school, operating across two school sites, dedicated to promoting the wellbeing and success of all within our community of students, families/carers and staff. We provide support and challenge to all members of our community in developing their skills, in having the courage to try new experiences and in learning to celebrate their success. Spiritual, moral, social and cultural values are embedded throughout our school day. We are proud that our recent Ofsted inspection report contained the following statements:

“The Academy of Central Bedfordshire is an innovative alternative provision free school”

“The vision of a more meaningful education and improved life chances for previously disaffected young people has been made real”

“Students say that the academy is making a positive difference to their confidence and to the way they feel about their learning. They say it is helping them to achieve better outcomes than they had previously expected.”

We will build upon the good work of the last two years and use it as a secure base from which to achieve our ambition of providing an outstanding learning experience for every member of our community.
