Can you see yourself leading a friendly and diverse school on the outskirts of the historical and vibrant city of Oxford?

As Headteacher of Botley School you will work with governors and staff to deliver excellence in education.

You will lead by example the professional conduct and practice of our enthusiastic and committed teaching and support staff in a way that minimises unnecessary workload and prioritises continuous professional development.

You will drive the design and delivery of an inspiring and comprehensive curriculum, building on our school’s strengths in music, science and sports; and improving outcomes for all children.

Working in partnership with our small, local, Multi Academy Trust, you will steer our school through challenging financial times – informing tough decisions around funding priorities and exploring new revenue streams within our local community.

Finally, you will combine confident and empathetic leadership with a sense of fun, a passion for learning and an ability to inspire.

In return, you will be working in a friendly and diverse school on the outskirts of Oxford. The rich resources of our community and city are on our doorstep. Museums, theatre, art, science and nature are available to enhance both the school’s curriculum and your personal interests

The School

This is a fantastic opportunity to take over the leadership of a diverse and dynamic school located 1.5 miles out of Oxford City Centre.

Our school has undergone a period of rapid improvement following a disappointing Ofsted inspection in March 2019. As Headteacher you will drive further improvements whilst retaining a friendly and inclusive ethos with wellbeing at the heart of an exciting curriculum.

The governors have supported the move for Botley School to become part of a Multi Academy Trust. It is anticipated that in April, our membership of the Acer Trust will be finalised. This is a small, local Trust which works in collaboration with 3 other primary schools and 3 secondary schools (including Matthew Arnold, which is where the majority of our children go on to after their primary years at Botley). Being part of the Acer Trust will enable us to retain our independence and our individual character whilst benefitting from the wealth of experience and training offered to us by the Trust’s experienced coaches and school improvement leaders. The new Headteacher will drive the positive relationship with the new Trust whilst ensuring that Botley School maintains its values and ethos.
