After some time of considerable difficulties but recently of recovery, St. John’s School in Banbury is now ready to appoint a substantive Headteacher to lead and continue the turnaround of the school.

Our new Headteacher will be a practising Catholic, a highly motivated, caring and energetic leader who will inspire our children to grow in wisdom, knowledge and the love of God.

Ideally, this post may suit an experienced Headteacher or an outstanding Deputy Headteacher both with considerable leadership experience in Catholic schools. In return, the successful candidate will be able to make their own mark as they continue the recovery of the school which plays a critical role in the local Catholic community.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

  • Is fully conversant with changes in primary education and practised in initiating these changes.
  • Has a proven track record of raising standards in teaching and learning.
  • Is highly motivated, resilient and has the skills to motivate and lead others demonstratable experience in improving Ofsted ratings would be preferable.
  • Can analyse data effectively, monitor progress, develop strategic plans and set targets.
  • Has previously taught in both key stages and successfully led a school in a major curriculum area, e.g. Religious Education, Maths, English or Science.
  • Has experience in providing the best and most current education for pupils with SEND and EAL.
  • Will work collaboratively with the Governing Body and the Leadership team to formulate the strategic direction of the school.
  • Is inclusive and able to work with parents and staff in raising the morale of the school and rebuild the community.
  • Has excellent communication skills and who will embrace their role as the ‘face’ of St John’s School within the parish community.
  • Is a team worker as well as a team leader who leads by example.
