The Vacancy

Orchard Meadow is a fantastic school, brimming with potential. It strives to provide an exceptional education for the local children. This post will provide an exciting opportunity for a Headteacher who wants to make a real difference to the local community.

As Headteacher you will have the opportunity to lead the school on its continued journey of improvement, ensuring it provides children with an inspirational learning environment and the very best opportunities right through their education. To support you to drive improvements you will have access to the support and resources of United Learning, including educational expertise, specialist finance, HR and technology business partners.

We are looking for a Headteacher, or an outstanding Deputy, who believes that extraordinary academic success is possible and can draw together a team that delivers it. As a confident leader you will have the ability to motivate others and command respect in staff and pupils alike. The school needs a leader with a clear vision, and the focus to drive forward improvement at the school.

United Learning is deeply committed to the progress, success and safeguarding of all children and young people. We believe in serving local communities through creating excellent schools which provide outstanding education and support all the children of the area. Our Headteachers are central not only to the leadership of their school but also to the collective leadership of the Group. As a Group, we aim to offer more by working together than any single school could on its own: we aim to support and develop leaders, provide excellent professional development for all staff and offer broader experiences for children and young people.

We are committed to fairness, diversity and inclusion. We are currently working hard to improve representation of black, Asian and minority ethnic leaders at headship level and to raise our proportion of women leaders to match their representation in our wider workforce. Whoever you are, if you have a strong track record of improving young people’s education and a drive to do more, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

If you are looking for an exciting and highly rewarding role within a Group that offers excellent professional development, and if you have a strong commitment to improving the lives of all young people, we encourage you to visit us.

United Learning

We are part of United Learning, a large and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
