About the school:

This is an exceptional opportunity to create a new school. We are looking for an outstanding, experienced leader in teaching and learning to drive the development and ensure the success of our new school situated in Haverfordwest, the county town of Pembrokeshire. The school is a voluntary controlled school due its association with a charitable trust.

Opening in September 2018, the new Haverfordwest School will offer an educational excellence. Located in Haverfordwest initially on two sites, the school will educate 1800 students aged 11 to 19 years. The local authority has agreed to the constructions of a new, purpose built school – this is still in the initial planning stage.

The Role

As headteacher will you be innovative and creative. You will inspire, develop and manage all. You will lead all aspects of the school including the key role of developing the values and culture of the school and creating its distinctive educational offer. You will focus on achieving the very best standards of education possible, a fulfilling workplace for staff and building strong and purposeful relationships within the community.

The successful applicant must be a leader with excellent communication skills ensuring our families understand our educational offer for their children, which will in turn drive strong student outcomes.

  • Drive the improvement in standards at the school with passion and a focus on quality that grows both the school and the school’s reputation
  • Understand that leading learning is at the heart of school leadership
  • Collaborate and build high performing teams, and inspire, motivate and develop sustainable relationships with all members of the school community
  • Engage with students, teachers, parents and community leaders in a manner that is open, inclusive and conveys the values of the organisation and school
  • Manage financial budgets with astuteness and engage and contribute successfully to the wider organisation
