Plymouth CAST a Multi-Academy Trust of 36 School across the Diocese of Plymouth are seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed and practising Catholic Headteacher. Holy Cross, which is rated by Ofsted as Outstanding has 291 children on roll and is oversubscribed. Their expansion over the years has provided a beautiful and unique premises which merges into the old Holy Cross Church.
We are seeking a candidate who:
- Is a practising Catholic with a strong understanding of the teaching and values of the Catholic Church.
- Has an ability to lead school-wide improvement initiatives that have a demonstrable impact on pupil attainment.
- Has made a significant impact in teaching and learning outcomes.
- Is passionately committed to safeguarding and the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Is committed to meeting the learning and pastoral needs of all pupils at the school
- Can manage the school’s financial and human resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the school’s educational goals and priorities.
- Is resilient and positive, responding to the current challenges in education.
- Can work as part of a team and establish positive relationships with pupils, parents, governors and staff
- Is committed to working as part of a family of schools within the Trust

Holy Cross Catholic Primary School is a mixed school for 4-11 year olds in Plymouth, Devon. It became part of CAST Multi-Academy trust on 1st April 2014.
Plymouth CAST’s organisation is designed to reflect Catholic social teaching within its policies and structures, not just within its curriculum offer. The core principles of this teaching centre on: the dignity of the individual; the common good; solidarity; and subsidiarity. There are 36 schools within CAST, each with a local governing body with a delegated budget and delegated powers to allow it to operate as the local ‘steward’ of overall mission.
Holy Cross Catholic Primary School completed a £1.8m school expansion project in 2016.

Holy Cross Catholic Primary School has a motto: “Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God”. There is a determination within the school to make learning fun and great emphasis is placed on the importance of relationships throughout the whole school.
The school focuses beyond academic boundaries and considers each child’s personal development. It believes that it is critical that its children feel good about themselves, have high self-esteem, self-confidence and are provided with a range of opportunities that make them believe that they can do anything.
