Job overview

The Governors of King Solomon High School are looking to appoint an experienced and committed professional to lead this unique school, set in the London Borough of Redbridge. The role represents an opportunity to lead a modern orthodox Jewish voluntary-aided community school which serves over 1000 students, including a popular sixth form.

The successful candidate will play a significant role in shaping the strategic development of the school as it continues on its journey of improvement and builds upon the many strengths that lie at heart of a vibrant school community. The successful candidate will enjoy the strong support of the governing body to help them achieve the outcomes our students and colleagues richly deserve.

You will be leading a committed and hard-working Leadership Team and a staff body of dedicated and caring professionals who all put the student at the centre of everything they do. Several colleagues are former pupils of the school as both teachers and support staff, returning to give back to the community which helped them through their own education.

We are situated within an educational campus that also includes Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School. Our school welcomes a student population rich in social and cultural diversity, representing students of all faiths and of none. Over 35 languages are spoken by the students of which 50% speak English as an additional language. This reflects the local community the school serves and many of our families from a variety of backgrounds choose the school for its strong ethos of learning, community and charity.

Recent exam results have been the best in the school’s history achieving 72% A*-C at A-Level in 2022 and over 64% of applicants receiving their first-choice place at university. GCSE results continue to be well above the national averages. In 2022 the schools received a Progress 8 figure of +0.31 and achieved 30% 7-9 grades, 80% 4-9.

The role is required for September 2023 or based on the successful candidate's availability.

Visits to the school are encouraged to see for yourself the opportunities available for the right candidate.

For more information on the position or to arrange a visit to the school, please contact Tracy Rubery, Clerk to the Governors

Trubery.317@kshsonline.uk or telephone 020 8498 1312.

The closing date for applications is midday on Wednesday 5th April.

Shortlisting will take place on Friday 21st April.

Interviews will be held on 11th and 12th May.

King Solomon High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers must share this commitment.
