We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, experienced, and dynamic Headteacher. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person, you will be supporting with the setting up/creation, the opening and future development of our new special educational needs School. The Headteacher will be a huge part of the development project for our new school in Balsall Heath, Birmingham.

About us: Care Perspectives is a specialist provider of care and support to children & young people who have complex mental health disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioural difficulties. Since we established, we have worked tirelessly to develop our services to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children & young people, creating services that nurture independence. We are now venturing on a new and exciting challenge with the opening a new School.

Job Summary

As the Headteacher, you will be the leading professional in the school, responsible for evaluating the school’s performance to identify the priorities for continuous improvement and raising standards. You will be accountable to the governing body and ensure the school operates in compliance with the DFE standards and regulations.

You will create positive relationships with your staff team, the children & young people, meeting their needs and always safeguarding them. You will be the designated safeguarding lead for the school.

Essential Qualifications required:

  • Relevant Teaching Qualification                                                                           
  • NPQH qualified                  

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant experience as a Head Teacher or Deputy Head Teacher in special educational needs
  • Experience of Ofsted procedures / inspections
  • You will have strong knowledge of Independent School Standards Regulations and Education Inspection Framework
  • You will have extensive knowledge of safeguarding.
  • Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead is essential.
  • Relevant experience in the specialist area of the service i.e., relevant experience of working with children and young people with autistic spectrum disorders, learning disability, trauma and mental health and resultant behaviours that may challenge
  • You will have successful leadership experience in managing complex behaviours with trauma informed practice and appropriate interventions
  • You will have concrete knowledge and experiencing of multi-agency working to support Looked after Children and directing on EHCP outcomes                            
  • Good knowledge of people management practices                                                
  • Outstanding leadership skills                                                                                
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team                                               
  • Ability to motivate teams and individuals                                                               
  • Excellent communication skills                                                                                  
  • Good organisational and time management skills
