Job overview

1.0 FTE (currently with a 0.4 FTE teaching commitment)

We asked our children to tell their new headteacher what they think is the best thing about their school. This is what they said: ‘Everyone is special and their talents are valued…everyone is friendly and happy…lovely teachers teach you a variety of different subjects…encouraging staff…special events and visits…everyone cares about each other and looks after one another…great TAs…sports…great sociability…I have lots of friends…staff listen to us and our ideas…Christian values.’

As you can see, Lower Heath CE Primary School is a cheerful, welcoming school where everyone works as a team to ensure the children achieve their full potential. We have four classes and in January we will be opening our own nursery provision on site. Our school has a rich history, great learning resources and lovely spacious outdoor areas, including a Forest School area. However, we believe the best thing about our school is that it is full of lovely, well mannered, hardworking and enthusiastic children with very supportive parents. Everyone works well together and we are now looking for a new headteacher to join us.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • have the leadership skills to take our school forward, motivate and inspire the whole school community to do their best and continue to develop,
  • are an outstanding teacher who will be a good role model to others,
  • are passionate about children’s learning and offering a wide range of opportunities to children,
  • have a creative approach to teaching, assemblies and school improvement,
  • can work collaboratively with a committed team of staff and governors,
  • will nurture relationships with parents and the wider community, including continuing the distinctive Christian character of our school,
  • have the energy and imagination to lead our school on the next exciting steps of our journey.

If you choose to join us, we will offer you:

  • well behaved, confident children who love to learn,
  • staff who are enthusiastic, positive and talented and believe that every child matters,
  • a friendly atmosphere where everyone is valued,
  • a school with high standards and a proven track record for successful outcomes,
  • a fully supportive governing body,
  • parents who are appreciative of the wide range of experiences and opportunities that the school offers.

Lower Heath is part of the North Shropshire Teaching School Alliance, a supportive group of individual schools; therefore our new headteacher will benefit from the support of other experienced headteachers, who are looking forward to welcoming a new member to the group.

Our school was described recently as, “Not a place of no, a place of have a go!” We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive person who can further develop this ethos. Someone who will retain and build on the important traditions of our school but will also bring their own vision to take us forward. Someone who will continue to make a positive difference to our children’s lives.

If you think you could be the person we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you. Don’t just take our word for it, please come along for a visit to get a feel for our lovely, welcoming school.

About Lower Heath CofE Primary School

Our school is a rural, Church of England school which provides a nurturing, supportive and stimulating learning environment, and an exciting curriculum linked to our local community and the interests of our children.

Head of School’s Welcome

Welcome to Lower Heath CE Primary School and Nursery.

Our school has a very special and unique character, steeped in history dating back to the late 18th Century and built upon its Christian values of faith, love, respect, thankfulness and fellowship. Our vision is to ensure that our curriculum, which is personalised to the interests of our children and the rural community around us, enables all children to reach their God-given potential and to be the very best they can be. Through carefully constructed learning sequences and key concepts, our children know more and remember more.

Our staff are all dedicated to helping our children to become responsible, compassionate and reflective young people who participate fully in school life, and the life of our wider community.

We are part of the Marches Academy Trust, and as such we firmly believe in the Trust’s vision of ‘achievement through caring.’ Lower Heath has a supportive and nurturing ethos where the children are at the heart of everything we do.  As a result, our children are positive, resilient and confident, and we are all incredibly proud to be part of our school.

Hopefully you will find everything you need to know about our school on this website, but should you need any further information, or you would like to look around our school, please contact us to arrange a visit. We would be very happy to show you around.
