King Arthur’s School is an inclusive, collaborative, and happy learning community where our dedicated staff team have a collective will to bring out the best in every student in our care. Since joining SAST in April 2019, we have made great strides in establishing ourselves as an improving and popular school for this community. Together, we’ve put King Arthur’s School on the path to success, but our ambitions for the future mean there is plenty more to do for the next Headteacher.

King Arthur’s School is a small, vibrant school for students aged 11-16 in picturesque rural Somerset. It serves the historic town of Wincanton as well as surrounding villages in both Somerset and Dorset. The school is proud to be part of Sherborne Area Schools Trust (SAST), a family of thirteen primary schools, four secondary schools, and an alternative provision serving Dorset and South Somerset. Partnership and collaboration are core to SAST, and every school is an equal partner at the Trust, aiming to deliver excellent education for all.

As our new Headteacher, you will provide collaborative and compelling leadership that will further improve King Arthur’s School for the young people it serves. You will bring experience in best-practice teaching and learning and opportunities for students, ensuring that the school is a hub of the fantastic local community we are so proud to serve. You will be dedicated to improving outcomes and have the highest expectations for an outstanding education for all students. We seek a visionary and visible leader with a strong moral purpose and the skills and experience required to take our school to the next level. You will most likely be a Deputy Headteacher looking for your first Headship, but you could also be a serving Headteacher seeking a new challenge in a highly appealing part of the country- what matters is your track record and enthusiasm for our school.
