Job overview

If you really want to make a difference and improve the lives of children and young people, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are looking for an aspirational and inspirational headteacher who will embrace our mission statement of ‘Providing Young People with a Brighter Future.’ We achieve this through a relentless commitment to our pupils and their families or carers. Pace Education is more than just a school, we are a community of dedicated individuals all working together to provide the best possible life opportunities for any child, regardless of their needs or previous experiences.

As Headteacher you will be responsible for the quality of education provided, ensuring the highest possible outcomes for children whilst ensuring they are safe, well looked after and challenged to push themselves beyond their normal limitations. You will ensure the Health & Safety of all pupils, staff and visitors and ensure that all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to, continuing the culture of openness, honesty and integrity. Alongside this, you will form positive relationships with local authorities and ensure the growth of the school in a sustainable and ambitious manner. With growth comes opportunity, you will manage your budget and be part of all capital expenditure processes, ensuring you are fundamental to the direction the school takes.

We expect the best educational experience for all our young people, and you will ensure this through strong and dedicated leadership. You will have a clear and effectively communicated vision and strategy and you will ensure all pupils, staff and stakeholders buy into this philosophy, regularly reviewing progress against School Development Plans and Self-Evaluation.

No two days are ever the same, so it is vital you have the flexibility and resilience to work in this truly rewarding sector.

About the School

PACE Education is a special educational needs school, located in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, supporting pupils with a variety of needs including social, emotional and mental health needs and Autistic Spectrum Condition. We are currently registered to work with 13-16 year old pupils and have a maximum occupancy of 30. The school achieved a ‘Good’ Ofsted grading in May 2018 with an Outstanding judgement for Personal Development, something we are incredibly proud of and continue to develop.

Our school supports children who are disengaged with education and have often been permanently excluded. We believe all children deserve a chance and it is our mission to support their individual needs and reignite a love of learning. We do this by creating bespoke pathways and utilising individualised teaching strategies. Furthermore, we adapt to meet the child’s needs.

As a school, we provide a broad curriculum and utilise off-site learning. Children access qualifications ranging from Entry Level to GCSE and we offer an extensive list of ASDAN qualifications.

Our school is based in a large building but also has outbuildings that can potentially be developed to increase capacity and extend the needs and age range we can positively work with. This truly is a unique opportunity and one that will only be limited by imagination.

About Edison Education

Although Pace Education is its own school, it is part of Edison Education, a dedicated education and care company working with some of the UK’s most vulnerable children. Being part of a group means you will have access to peer Headteachers, strong and supportive Governance and the ability to share resources.

Edison believes that no young person should fail as a result of their experience and complex histories. That is why we are dedicated to the care and education of the most vulnerable children and young people in our society who, through no fault of their own, are often unable to be accommodated anywhere else.

As a group, we are dedicated to continuous professional development and we pride ourselves on supporting colleagues to realise their professional goals, develop skills, knowledge and expertise, and support career development.

Joining PACE Education

We benefit from a settled and supportive staff group and a fantastic cohort of young people.

As a Headteacher for Edison, you will be able to access a variety of benefits:

  • 10% performance related bonus scheme based on meeting personal and commercial targets.
  • One off bonus for outstanding regulatory performance.
  • Private Medical Insurance.
  • Commitment to fund NPQH or equivalent.
  • Company pension.

Perhaps the most exciting reason to join us, however, is the potential to grow and develop our wonderful school. With strong performance and commercial acumen, there really is great potential to take PACE Education further. There is also an opportunity for you to establish a fantastic reputation for providing the highest quality SEND education.

If you are excited by this opportunity and would like to discuss further, please contact Leo Guy, Director of Education at: lguy@edisoneducation.co.uk or 07702545156.

Completed applications should be sent to Melaney Doyle, Head of People at: mdoyle@edisoneducation.co.uk

All successful candidates will be subject to our safer recruitment procedures which includes a DBS check, right to work and reference checks.
