Job overview

Our Vision – “Opening doors to success.”

Woodfield is a thriving, maintained school for students with additional learning needs across the secondary age range. The school is built on the principle of true community and inclusion. Following the retirement of Mrs Ashton-Coulton after 8 years of exceptional leadership, the Board of Governors are seeking an exceptional and energetic leader who, as well as managing a large and complex organisation, will inspire and motivate everyone associated with the school to always do their best providing support, challenge, and opportunities for everyone to thrive. In recent years there has been considerable expansion on the main school site as well as the addition of a specialist school satellite centre based in the grounds of a local secondary school.

Woodfield is at an exciting stage in its development. It has been judged to be good in its most recent Ofsted inspections and strives to be recognised as outstanding. The school’s success to date has been significantly due to the contributions of its skilled and committed staff.

What we are looking for in our next Headteacher

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude who is committed to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school.

You will build on Woodfield’s considerable existing strengths and set the vision for the future of the school, ensuring we have the right people and plans in place to see that our young people leave feeling proud of what they’ve achieved.

You should be an excellent communicator and have the creativity and strategic vision to inspire and lead change but also the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached.

You must be able to demonstrate recent, successful, and sustained impact in leading change as a senior leader with SEND experience within the secondary school age range.

You must be an inspirational leader of the highest moral integrity, committed to high quality, research informed teaching and learning whilst Woodfield continues to develop and demonstrate the best educational practice.

The next Headteacher will have the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be a compelling ambassador for Woodfield’s internal and external stakeholders and showcase the school through networking and promoting best practice locally and regionally.

Your positive attitude will inspire and engage the young people, parents/carers, staff and the local community and you must be a compassionate and strong leader who can hold staff to account whilst being accountable yourself.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to manage, prioritise and organise your workload, to show flexibility and resilience and recognise the need for pastoral care for all members of the school community.

Woodfield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check (we will cover the cost) and an online search. We are an equal opportunities employer, welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
