A CALL TO ACTION

Do you believe that the most challenging, often most vulnerable students deserve an education that nurtures their talents, ignites their interests and develops their skills to lead successful, productive lives?

Would you be relentless in ensuring that your students got the best teachers and best resources in the most effective learning environment to support them to re-engage, to take risks and to grow in confidence and self-esteem?

Olive AP Academy - Thurrock is looking for an exceptional individual, from any school background, who is passionate about their vision for alternative provision and has the strategic skills and expertise to deliver on our high expectations. If you are the type of leader who is motivated to make a difference and tackles challenges effectively then this is the right role for you. A new vision for the Academy has been created. The move to the £4.25million new building, designed by pupils, staff, the Local Authority and the Olive Academies Trust which takes place in June this year provides the Academy with the platform to improve quickly.

This is a key senior appointment for the recently formed but highly regarded multi-academy trust. You will work very closely with the CEO and play an integral role in shaping the strategic future of the Academy and Trust.

OLIVE ACADEMIES' VALUES

CONVICTION - Everyone has the capacity to reach their potential
DETERMINATION - Not giving up on those who have not experienced success
AMBITION - All challenges can be overcome and education is an important lifelong journey
REFLECTION - Learning from experiences and developing a capacity to improve further

We want to attract inspirational colleagues who are aligned with our values and who:

  • are driven to make a difference, to overcome barriers, to be relentless in enabling all students to re-engage and make exceptional progress
  • have the ability to nurture staff and students through their day-to-day challenges while keeping a firm eye on strategic goals
  • are ready to extend the scope of their impact across two or more Academies and develop an outstanding model of school improvement in alternative provision

We are an ambitious, committed team who support, challenge and value each other. If you’d like to be an integral part of a thriving organisation, call Adam Stanley on 07778 819105.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS.

Closing date: 17th March 2017 (4pm)
School visits: Please contact Adam Stanley
Interviews: Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th March 2017

About Olive AP Academy - Thurrock

Olive AP Academy - Thurrock

Just 40 minutes from central London by train, Olive AP Academy - Thurrock is based in Tilbury. Our brand new building opened to staff and students in summer 2017. The academy was graded as 'Good' in all areas at its last Ofsted inspection in December 2018.

We work with pupils who have been permanently excluded from school and those who have medical needs.  Our alternative provision academy has up to 96 students aged between 11 and 16 on roll at any one time.

Olive AP Academy – Thurrock is part of the Olive Academies Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), approved by the Department for Education. Established in 2013, it is one of the first academy sponsors specialising in alternative provision in England.

Our aim is to transform the lives of children and young people for whom traditional teaching methods have not worked. We help our pupils develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to believe that they can be successful in their own lives.
