Job overview

Wadebridge School is a strong and successful 11-16 Single Academy Trust with just over 1000 students. We are seeking to appoint an inspiring headteacher who will lead with purpose and compassion.  Collaboration will lie at the heart of your leadership; effective and caring interpersonal relationships underpin the culture and ethos of the school, and you will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to all students and all staff being able to thrive and flourish.  You will be the custodian of our strong safeguarding culture where students’ wellbeing really matters. You will be committed to ensuring high quality teaching and learning, and you will further strengthen a culture in which the best possible outcomes for each individual student are paramount.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced leader who is innovative and strategic. Working closely with the Trust Board, you will bring a clear vision that builds on our values, inspires confidence and empowers colleagues at every level. You will nurture a culture where staff and students feel valued, respected, and listened to. Students and families will benefit from a school that acts with empathy and integrity, and the wider population will indeed see a school that is genuinely at the ‘heart of its community’. On a daily basis you will make a significant, positive impact on the lives of the staff who work at the school, and the students attending Wadebridge.

We are committed to promoting the health and wellbeing of everyone in our school community. We have extensive and highly effective student support structures as well as a dedicated team of Health Champions focussing on strategies to promote positive staff wellbeing.  Every member of the Wadebridge School community is valued: students, staff, parents, carers and trustees.

We work collaboratively with a number of other secondary schools both in Cornwall and further afield. We also work in close partnership with Cornwall Council and have good relationships in all the key strategic areas.  As our newly appointed headteacher we will encourage you to continue to strengthen those relationships and forge new ones. We will encourage you to engage in continued professional development to enrich your leadership and your own personal wellbeing. We shall fully support you taking an active role in the Cornwall Association of Secondary Headteachers (CASH) and will encourage you to network widely with school and trust leaders locally and nationally.
