Job overview

HEADTEACHER
An opportunity to lead on the development of secondary collaboration within the CMAT.

St. Wilfrid’s is a successful 11-18 school with approximately 1600 students on roll. We have a strong Catholic ethos, set in a caring and inclusive community. St. Wilfrid’s is part of The Bishop Konstant Catholic Academy Trust, a well-established Multi-Academy Trust entering its 8th year of operation.

Within our 12 academies are communities where our children and young people are given a clear vision for life, a vision which is rooted in the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and which is faithful to the mission of the Catholic Church.

As a school we continue to be sharply focused on raising achievement for all our young people and we believe we are well positioned to improve rapidly under the leadership of a focused and driven Headteacher. Our new head will need to build capacity in our senior leadership and will have a track record of managing and developing effective teams.

The appointed candidate will be a highly collaborative strategic leader with an ability to engage with a range of internal and external partners to further enhance school improvement across the Trust. There is an opportunity for the appointed candidate to lead on secondary collaboration, supporting our other heads in developing models of collaborative provision and developing Trust-wide policies on secondary provision.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a practising Catholic, who will strive to uphold and develop strong spiritual and moral values throughout the whole school and wider community.
  • Be an inspirational leader with a clear vision for the future of the school, building on its current capacity.
  • Lead by example, with a ‘can-do’ attitude that inspires commitment from students, staff and the local community.
  • Have a proven track record of raising standards in teaching and learning, resulting in measurable whole school improvement, within an aspirational, caring and accountable ethos.

About St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School & Sixth Form College, A Voluntary Academy

St. Wilfrid’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form College, with its distinctive Catholic identity, seeks to ensure the development of all students’ spiritual, moral and academic potential, based on its commitment to Christ and His teachings.

As a community, the school is committed to the common good, which is achieved through the fostering of a co-operative and caring ethos, both with St Wilfrid’s, parishes, family and the wider community.

Such an approach is based on the Christian principle of personal dignity and worth where each person’s rights and responsibilities are recognised and respected, and their individual talents nurtured.

These talents include the search for academic excellence within a secure learning environment, where the needs and potential of all pupils are addressed and where achievement, both individual and collective, is celebrated.

We are incredibly proud of our community, students, supportive parents, staff and governors.  All of us work together to make St Wilfrid’s a safe and enjoyable place to learn.

At St Wilfrid’s we have high standards at the heart of all we do. We encourage our students to achieve the best they can across every area of school. A rich and broad curriculum provides high-quality education and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Our aim is for our students to be confident, caring, resilient young adults with a desire to learn and achieve the best they can, in all they do.

We welcome students of any faith or of none, but our faith has a positive influence on our approach. We are building a community of young adults who recognise and appreciate the value of each other’s company while growing in knowledge and faith. Students feel a sense of responsibility and care for others and are willing to give something of themselves for the happiness and the improvement of the broader community.
