Due to the planned early retirement of our long serving and highly-regarded headteacher of 11 years, we are looking to appoint a new leader who is personally committed to excellence, passionate about learning and raising standards of attainment and committed to our ethos.

Flushdyke Junior and Infant School is located in Ossett, West Yorkshire and is currently rated as Good by Ofsted (September 2017). We are well-respected and known for our high standards, exemplary pupil behaviour and a fully inclusive model of learning in which children thrive to the best of their abilities and where we celebrate the achievements of every pupil. We are proud of our warm, welcoming and inclusive school, where we value our community; providing opportunities for all pupils to have a wide range of experiences and become independent learners.

The dedicated and experienced Governing Body are seeking to appoint an inspirational and effective leader with a proven track record who will:

  • Work collaboratively with staff and governors whilst sharing a strategic vision, giving clear leadership and demonstrating compassion, to cultivate a motivated, caring focused team
  • Ensure that every child is at the centre of every decision in creating a culture of high expectation, safety and support, where all pupils can achieve success and be engaged in their own learning, supported by a curriculum appropriate to their individual needs and abilities
  • Be warm and emotionally mature, with the ability to engage and build strong relationships with all members of our school family; children, parents/carers, staff, governors, other agencies and the wider community.
  • Be an inspiring practitioner, with in-depth knowledge of excellence in primary teaching practice and the creativity, organization and drive to disseminate innovative teaching and learning strategies throughout the school, developing staff and achieving the best possible outcomes.
  • Have leadership experience with a track record of driving improvement, possessing excellent people management skills and to effectively manage the school resources, including the school budget
