Job overview

We like to think we are a small, but perfectly formed Academy which sits in the heart of the Warwickshire Countryside.

The vision of the school is to provide a diverse curriculum which “best fits” students and ensures that all abilities at least reach, but preferably exceed their potential.

Our well-developed support team offers a high level of pastoral care and maintains behaviour at a standard which facilitates not inhibits teaching and learning.

We are a good school on the cusp of outstanding—our progress 8 last year positioned us in the top 3 schools in Warwickshire and from September all years are full except year 11 (in fact we have been oversubscribed for the last 3 years).

The governing body is a small but committed band from a wide variety of backgrounds that are looking for someone to take us to outstanding and keep us there. What we need from you is the ability to maintain the “working well” and guide and improve where required.

Closing date for applications: 12 noon on Monday 16th September 2019

Interviews will be held: Thursday 19th & Friday 20th September 2019

Please contact Ross Laird on (Switch board) 01223 907 979, (Mobile) 07901585959 or rlaird@academicis.co.uk for a confidential conversation or to arrange a school visit.

Values and vision

Alcester Academy aims to provide a high-quality curriculum that allows all its students to fulfil their academic potential. The school works to achieve this through good teaching, effective use of data to drive interventions, and a determination that its students will achieve.

The secondary school wishes to teach students the importance of building trust through truth, and to do the right thing when no one is looking. It also strives to instil in students the value of curiosity in extending and developing their knowledge, and the value of courage in innovating and creating. Pupils are supported to develop enquiring minds.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to keep pupils safe, and to teach them how to keep themselves safe, is highly effective. Attendance is high. Lessons typically involve mature discussion in which pupils respect and learn from each other’s views. Teachers develop pupils’ literacy and numeracy skills most effectively. Work is well planned to build on what pupils already know and understand. Teachers provide additional challenge for those who excel, and support any who are at risk of falling behind. Well-planned and varied strategies reflect the academy’s commitment to supporting disadvantaged pupils.”
