Job overview
‘Great Ballard School provides a safe space in which pupils can be inspired to discover what they can achieve’
Are you an ambitious and innovative leader who is ready to challenge and motivate? This delightful family-centred school seeks a dynamic head with an ability to inspire; an exciting opportunity to head a successful, co-educational independent boarding and day school, for children aged 2½ to 13 years, with plans to expand the offering to 16 years by September 2021.
Do you have a passion for every pupil to excel and every member of staff reach their full potential? Do you have a proven track record of developing and delivering excellence in education?
Great Ballard School, located in Eartham, near Chichester, West Sussex, offers a bespoke learning journey which empowers pupils to feel confident and valued, a perfect balance of traditional prep school learning blended with an appreciation of contemporary values. The aim of the school is to prepare pupils for their next stage in life, whilst remaining family focused.
Set in 30 acres of stunning grounds, the school boasts its own sports fields, heated swimming pool, tennis courts, astro pitch, dance studio, sports hall, grounds and woodland for pupils to practise their chosen interests such as forest school or mountain biking. Most important of all, the school provides its pupils with a safe environment simply to be children.
The Proprietor, and advisory Board of Governance, is seeking an ambitious Head to consolidate the school’s strengths and to lead it in the next stage of its development by taking the first pupils into year 9 in September 2021, with the first GCSEs being sat in Summer 2024. They are inviting new ideas and approaches on the best ways to increase pupil numbers and on achieving the highest possible educational standards.
Great Ballard School requires a leader who will engender passion in the staff and strive to inspire by example; strong communication skills and a commitment to the school’s ethos are a must in this role, which presents a wonderful opportunity to direct and grow this excellent, established and much-loved school.
