Job overview

Do you have the passion and expertise to shape a future generation and make a positive difference to their life chances? Can you inspire curiosity, creativity, courage and belief in every child, every day, so they may grow and achieve their full potential in Christ?

The Governing Body of St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School and the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton is seeking to appoint a dedicated, caring and passionate Catholic Headteacher to deliver our aspirational vision to continue to lead our school forward as we strive to provide an excellent Catholic education. We are looking for someone who is a committed practising Catholic who has a clear vision, commitment and understanding of Catholic Education and Catholic Ethos.

St Catherine's Catholic Primary School is a single form entry school with eight classes occupied by children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. We have a dedicated team of staff working tirelessly together in order to provide our children with quality care and an excellent education.

At the centre of all we do lie the Gospel Values and our Mission Statement is our core driver. We want our children to grow into young people who are loving, kind, forgiving and who know what it is to be good citizens. We strive to grow in them a real thirst for learning and to aspire to be the best that they can be.

Our last Section 48 Inspection was carried out in the Autumn of 2015 and the school was judged to be "OUTSTANDING" in 8 out of 9 areas with Assessment of RE being judged as "GOOD". In December 2018, St Catherine's Catholic Primary School was inspected by Ofsted. The Inspectors judged our school as "REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT". However, in close partnership with the LA and Diocese and with the hard work and dedication of the school team, we believe there has been continued improvement and feel the school is now set to achieve “GOOD”.

We work closely with parents, our local schools and with the other Catholic schools in our Deanery and Diocese. This helps us to share ideas, learn from others and gives us opportunities both as staff and as pupils to work with our peers, developing both professionally and socially.

We have a supportive and committed Board of Governors who monitor and celebrate the work of the school. They encourage developments and improvements within the school and are key partners in our continued improvement.

Please contact either of our Co -Chair of Governors. Mrs Julie Baitup jbaitup@wsussex.org.uk or Mr Michael Madden mmadden9@wsussex.org.uk to arrange a confidential discussion.

Further information about our school and this position, including required application forms, can be found on the school’s website www.st-catherines.w-sussex.sch.uk or by contacting Mrs S Ward, School Business Manager on 01903 716039 or email: sward1@wsussex.org.uk to arrange a visit.

Please note that we do not accept CVs. Visits to the school are welcomed within the guidelines of the COVID19 restrictions.

Closing date: 5pm - Tuesday, 20 April 2021

Interview dates: Wednesday 5th and Thursday, 6th May 2021

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to a DBS check. The successful candidate will be required to sign the CES contract.
