The Governors, staff and children of Downview Primary School are looking for an outstanding leader with an open and approachable style, a demonstrable passion for the teaching of children in imaginative ways, along with kindness and a sense of fun and opportunity. We are also looking for someone with excellent communication skills using a variety of media to engage with all stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational leader to work with our wonderful children. We have a skilled and committed staff team who put our children at the heart of all we do, supporting them and their families in their well-being, safeguarding and development as individuals and learners. A part of our ethos is collaboration, and we enjoy working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children.

Downview Primary School is a three form entry academy with 620 children on roll. We are committed to providing the best education for our children in our school and enjoy a strong reputation in the local community.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has the children at the heart of all of their decisions
  • Is financially competent – Downview is a standalone academy where the Headteacher works closely with the External Accountants, Business Manager and the Governing Body
  • Is ambitious – the SLT is formed of highly experienced staff who would be willing and able to support the new Headteacher
  • Has strong leadership skills and strategic thinking to manage the school effectively whilst actively enhancing provision and ensuring children are inspired by a high-quality education
  • The ability to delegate – Downview is a large school
  • A strong credible leader, able to project themselves to reach different audiences: pupils, parents, staff but also retain the ability to be approachable on a personal level
  • Will be an integral part of an outward facing school and committed to building and strengthening experiences for the whole school community.
