We will expect you to be a skilled and confident manager of systems and people; expect you to be a visible presence commanding the respect of all in our community; expect you to know what you want and how you will involve us all in achieving that.

Cansfield is an 11-16 LA community school with a positive, vibrant atmosphere which permeates all aspects of school. We are a proud school with a clear sense of purpose and the will to succeed. We are a popular, oversubscribed school and have been the majority first choice school within our community for many years.

Our students are valued and respected. We want them to be the best they can be and to be happy at school. Ambition, aspiration and achievement, supported by a culture of care, compassion and tolerance are the foundations on which our school is built.

The new Headteacher will inherit a school that is vibrant and full of talented, committed people. Our school stands at this time energised, sharp and focused. It is, without doubt, a fantastic exciting opportunity to be the next Headteacher at Cansfield High.

Values and vision

Cansfield High School aims to offer its students a caring environment where positive achievement is valued and where they learn to work within a clear and disciplined framework. It aims to stimulate students’ imagination and to encourage independent learning.

The school aims to help students to develop aesthetic sensitivity. It also wishes to promote self-esteem and respect for others among students so that they become tolerant of people who have different opinions to them.

For a child to reach their full educational achievement, the school believes a high level of school attendance is essential. It has dedicated itself consistently to working towards a goal of 100% attendance for all pupils. The school has also affirmed that it will use every opportunity it can to convey to pupils and their parents or carers the importance of regular and punctual attendance.

Ofsted

“The school has a happy and welcoming atmosphere. Pupils are very polite and behave well. They are proud of their school and look after it. Classrooms and corridors are attractive and help pupils to learn and keep themselves safe. Relationships between pupils and teachers and among pupils are positive. Parents are supportive of the school. They say that their children are well looked after.”
