Job overview

A Place Where Children Matter

Amesbury CE (VC) Primary is a popular and growing, larger than average two form entry school, making us one of the largest primary schools in Wiltshire. We were graded a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted, and Outstanding in our recent Church report.

Due to the planned retirement of our current Headteacher in August 2017, we are seeking a dynamic individual who will continue to motivate and energise our amazing team of teachers and support staff.

The governors will appoint a Headteacher who can:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the core values and nurturing ethos of the school; giving children and staff the opportunities and experiences to excel.
  • Listen, respect and value the team and encourage the contribution of individuals.
  • Evidence their ability to work closely and effectively with a governing body.
  • Think strategically to develop and maintain the school vision for future years and articulate and work with stakeholders to achieve this.
  • Maintain the strong Christian beliefs, values and principles of the school, as part of the spiritual, moral and cultural development of our children. Be willing to take the lead in collective worship.
  • Encourage engagement with the wider community.

Amesbury Primary is a happy, vibrant and caring school where children are encouraged to be healthy, feel safe and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our children enjoy school, especially our excellent creative learning topics, and the range and number of extra-curricular after school opportunities that we provide.

The children have told the governors that the new Headteacher should be:

“Someone who will join in with their learning, creativity and play”.

We plan to appoint an enthusiastic Headteacher who has the drive and vision to further develop the environment in which our children thrive and strive to be the best that they can possibly be.

Please take the time to read our application pack and, should you feel that we have a mutually inspiring future together, we would love to hear from you.

Visits are warmly welcomed and encouraged.
