Job overview

We are looking for someone to become our next outstanding Headteacher to lead a small but highly skilled education team and be part of the wider CAMHS Phoenix multi-disciplinary team. CAMHS Phoenix School (formally known as Willow House Hospital School) is the education part of the NHS CAMHS Phoenix Unit which is a tier 4 Day Hospital Service based in Wokingham, Berkshire.

At CAMHS Phoenix School, we are proud of our reputation for delivering quality education and support for young people aged 12 to 18 who have severe and enduring mental health illnesses. We offer a safe and structured environment where young people can develop the skills needed to continue with their learning and to make real life choices as they approach adulthood. To succeed we need people who share our passion for making a difference and are willing to support our young people to achieve their goals.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified and experienced teacher with a sound understanding of the current legislation and statutory regulations relating to education with proven leadership and management experience.  As an outstanding relationship builder, you will also inspire exceptional performance and maintain a positive and enthusiastic learning environment for pupils and colleagues alike. You will be responsible for the continued development of the bespoke curriculum across all school phases.

The role is mainly non-classroom based, although your responsibilities may include some teaching.

If you share our determination to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our young people, we can promise you a collaborative culture, ongoing professional development, and ample scope to use your creativity and initiative as part of a highly energised and supportive team.  This opportunity is available from September 2022, in our medical setting providing both challenge and celebration.

We look forward to meeting you and visits to our setting are strongly recommended.  Please contact Sally Marsden on (0118) 949 5007 to arrange.

CAMHS Phoenix School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.
