Job overview

We are passionate about providing an outstanding provision for the children at Hatton, do you have the vision, drive and passion to lead the school in its next chapter? If you do we would love to hear from you.

Hatton is a large primary special school maintained by the London Borough of Redbridge (outer London). Our pupils are aged 3-11 with a range of complex needs including autism, social communication difficulties, downs syndrome and other learning difficulties. The School has an additional 2 satellite classes based in local mainstream schools. The School was graded as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in November 2018. Our pupils are amazing and work very hard to achieve small and big steps of progress over time. They are supported by a dedicated staff team and we stand by our ethos of “Learning, Growing & Achieving Together”; we value teamwork and support one another to develop. Although our staff are amazing and have developed some fantastic practices in working with our pupils, we do not sit back. We are continually striving to further develop the learning opportunities we provide for our pupils.

Due to the retirement of the current excellent Headteacher, who has successfully led the school over the last 7 years, we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced successor to build on their work and take the school into the next phase of its development.

 The successful candidate will:

· be able to articulate a vision and demonstrate strategic leadership to enhance the quality of our provision

· inspire and lead colleagues in our dedicated team of staff and support a positive culture of improvement.

· ensure outcomes for pupils are the core of everything we do

· have successful leadership experience in a special school or setting for at least three years

· Be competent in achieving the Head Teachers Standards

In return, we can offer

· a challenging but rewarding environment;

· a strong and supportive leadership team;

· a network of partner organisations locally and beyond.

For more information, please contact Lynette Phillips at lynettephillips@hattonspecialschool.co.uk or on the school number 020 8551 4131 to express your interest and to arrange an informal conversation/school visit with the current Headteacher.
