The Trustees of Woodrush High School wish to appoint an excellent teacher, and an ambitious and inspirational leader to the post of Headteacher who will build on the existing strengths of the school and ensure success at every level. 

Situated in a pleasant suburban area on the borders of Birmingham, Solihull, and Worcestershire (only 5 minutes from Junction 3 of the M42), Woodrush High School is an oversubscribed 11-18 mixed Academy; there are approximately 1000 students on roll coming from Worcestershire and Birmingham and further afield to access this popular and successful school. Woodrush is a dynamic and exciting teaching and learning environment which places staff development and wellbeing at the centre of its work. We are a designated Training School committed to educational innovation and we enjoy working partnerships with many schools locally and across the region.

The successful candidate will: 

• Be a highly experienced/successful senior leader, a current Deputy or Headteacher, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students to achieve success 

• Be a role model to staff, demonstrating passion for excellence in all teaching and learning and continued development of staff through dynamic and innovative CPD opportunities 

• An inspirational leader able to engage and motivate all stakeholders

• Have a sound awareness of current and future educational developments 

• Be committed to ensuring the Academy’s future financial stability 

• Have resilience, energy and vision to build on the School’s current success


This role will include:

• Management of the Senior Leadership Team 

• Evaluating the standards of Teaching and Learning within the School in line with professional standards

• Serving as a Trustee reporting to Trustee Body as required by the Articles of Governance

• Accounting Officer for the Academy and Director of a Limited Company 

• Deploy, recruit and manage teaching and support staff

Woodrush High School is a mainstream, non-denominational, secondary academy for girls and boys aged 11-18. It is situated Wythall, Worcestershire, near the city of Birmingham.

Our recent Ofsted inspection, December 2018, categorised Woodrush as a ‘Good’ school with ‘Outstanding’ Leadership & Management and Personal Development, Behaviour & Welfare. It is a Teaching School and a recognised National Support School.
