Job overview

Care, Values and Success

Hempland Primary School is looking for its next inspirational leader. Do you have flair, humour and vision? Could you inspire and lead our happy team of staff and children? Could you take a pivotal role in our exciting new MAT?

Rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2006, Hempland is a thriving primary school where great children do great things. If you share our ‘no barriers, no limits’ vision, we’d like to hear from you.

Our ideal candidate will have the creativity and vision to take our school forward into the future. You will need to be strong on the analysis of data and figures. Our strong SLT needs a far-sighted and creative leader. And of course, you will have your finger on the pulse of education and its ever-changing landscape.

Hempland Primary School has a committed and creative staff team who make learning engaging, purposeful and irresistible; we aim to bring out the best in all our children. We value and nurture our partnerships with parents, other schools and the local community. We know that working together makes Hempland an exceptional place for our children to learn, grow and flourish.

The school is a founder member of the Pathfinder Multi-Academy Trust, itself a significant aspect of our learning community. Our new Headteacher would be expected to play an important role within the MAT. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with our other schools to provide an outstanding education to all MAT children.

We can offer you:

  • A first class working environment
  • A vibrant and energetic school community
  • A talented, professional and highly committed staff team
  • A strong and supportive governing body
  • The support of the Pathfinder Multi-Academy Trust, and the opportunity to contribute to its  wider learning community
  • Our collective commitment to support your fresh vision for the school

Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged. To arrange a visit, please contact Ann Kirkpatrick: ann.kirkpatrick@york.gov.uk or (01904) 555495.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a Disqualification Declaration and the successful candidate will also be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Closing date: Tuesday 6 June 2017 at midnight.

Shortlisting: Monday 12 June 2017

Interviews: Wednesday and Thursday 21 and 22 June 2017.
