We’re now looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join us and provide competent advice on Health & Safety matters to College managers, staff and the users of College services. Working across all four College sites, you will develop and manage the College’s Policies, strategies and performance for Health, Safety and Environmental activities and be responsible for ensuring a compliant, safe and sustainable College in which to work and study.

Analysing and evaluating College compliance with appropriate standards, you will implement monitoring systems to assess accidents and incidents across the College group whilst reporting and making recommendations to reduce further risk. Taking a lead in ensuring that the College is at the forefront of good practice in respect of environmental issues, you will promote recycling and energy efficient principles and develop strategies and procedures for implementing ‘green’ initiatives.

With a flexible approach and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, the successful candidate will have significant experience working as a Health & Safety Advisor, Officer or Manager and hold a nationally recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH General Health & Safety certificate. With the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, you will be able to produce and analyse data and present reports appropriate to a variety of audiences.

With up to date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and HSE requirements, you will have highly developed communication, interpersonal and prioritisation skills and have experience of delivering Health & Safety training to teams. You will need to be results focused whilst promoting and ensuring good practice and have the ability to resolve problems effectively.

Candidates who have membership to an appropriate trade of professional institution are highly desirable, as are those who have an awareness of requirements concerning large scale building projects.

The post holder will be required to work across all College sites.

This position is permanent, full time.
