Hours:  36 Hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Location: Sutton SM2, however the postholder will be expected to travel across the Trust

Contract:  Permanent 

Within this newly created role, and working with an expert and dynamic team, you will ensure a high level of H&S compliance and safety procedures are achieved across all OHC&AT sites and activities. The role will involve proactively working with senior managers and staff to establish and maintain a culture of safe practices across the Trust.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to advance their H&S career.

Using your specialist knowledge you will help with the expansion and development of H&S by working closely with the Estates teams, on joint projects to achieve common objectives.  This is a hands-on position and the candidate is expected to form strong working relationships with the site Premises Officers and colleagues including Principals and senior managers.

You will be required to ensure a safe and healthy work environment by the completion and regular review of risk assessments. You will need to promote a continuous improvement culture to maintain the highest standard of Health & Safety at all times. You will also monitor the delivery of H&S contracts to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and to identify risks. There is an element of administration including record keeping, reports generation, and the monitoring and development of the online H&S system, as well as reviewing and improving effectiveness of current procedures.

The right person for this role will have:

• a recognised H&S qualification

• knowledge of current H&S legislation, to include fire safety, asbestos

• the ability to manage and monitor processes and undertake Risk Assessments using the 5-step methodology.

• evidence of developing and maintaining procedures in relation to reporting and analysing accidents, incidents, and other safety matters and giving advice on remedial action, where appropriate

• proven experience of managing a varied and ever-changing workload, planning and prioritisation to meet tight deadlines

• excellent communication and analytical skills
